Therapist Spotlight - Fran

This month we interviewed one of our lovely therapists, Fran. You can find out why did she became a massage therapist, what is her favourite memory and what was the most special part of her wedding day! Read her answers below:

What led you to a massage therapist career?

I did Sports Science at university, and we did a lot of Rehab in my final year. A friend who I was on a course with said she is going to do a weekend massage induction course. I thought I would come along, and I just loved it! Then I decided to do a year of Sports Massage Qualifications.

What motivates you at work?

I guess helping clients, helping people get better, improving their quality of life. IMG-20211030-WA0001.jpg

What’s one skill you’re currently working on?

That is a tough question! Let me think… hmm… I would say my DIY skills at the moment because currently we are trying to re-do an old built-in wardrobe.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

Probably super-speed, to get from one place to another as quickly as possible.

If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?

I think I would steal a title of a film called Funny Girl. I’ve never seen it but I think it would work as I feel like my life is making people laugh. J

IMG-20211030-WA0003.jpgWhat’s one of your favourite memories from the past year?

My wedding!

What was the most special part of it?

Just being able to have everyone at our wedding, especially after Covid. Being able to see people that we haven’t seen for years, having family and friends all in one place.

What was the most difficult thing during the wedding preparation?

Again, I would say Covid, not knowing what was going to happen. We had to postpone the wedding for a year already and even so we still weren’t sure if it could happen this year, weather people would be able to come, what adjustments we would need to make. The whole uncertainty with Covid was the hardest.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

If not even the best but the sweetest that I have received lately is when a client came back to the clinic after a massage and left me a note and thanked me helping her with her pain and now it is pretty much gone and that session together helped her a lot. Feedback like this means a lot to me.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

Not a huge amount, I can be a little bit lazy. Generally go to the gym, and meeting friends or seeing family. I am usually quite tired at the weekend.

If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chocolate, not the healthiest one but I have a sweet tooth. IMG-20211030-WA0006.jpg

What’s one item you can’t leave your house or apartment without?

My headphones, I love listening to music wherever I go.

What’s one song or artist that you’re embarrassed to admit you like?

Hm.. trying to think. I like the 90’ but I wouldn’t be particularly embarrassed about it. I would say all of the old boy bands, like Backstreet Boys.

What’s your top destination that you would like to visit?

There are still a lot! I still haven’t been to States, so that is definitely on my list. I really want to go to New York, that was supposed to happen last year and I hope it will happen at some point next year.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

It has to be a house. We want to move to a house so that would save us a lot of stress!
