Sarah spotlight

This month we interviewed Sarah, our lovely therapist. You can find out what brought her to London, what she cannot live without and how she likes to start her day. Read her answers below to get to know her better.

Where are you from and what brought you to London?

I am from the States, Michigan, to be more specific. My partner and I moved to London because he had a job opportunity here to work in a College and I wanted to do my Master in illustration. That’s how it started!

Who did you want to become when growing up?

When I was growing up, I was 11, at school we had to make business cards for future careers. I made two, one was a lawyer (but didn’t become that), and the other one was archaeologist.S2.jpg

How do you prefer to start your day? And how do you prefer to end your day?

I like to start it with a big breakfast and preferably yoga. It is really nice if I can go for a walk if the weather is good. I like to end the day just usually at home, relaxing, maybe having a glass of wine. Nothing too crazy.

What are your most overused words/phrases?

Not sure, but I say the word “RIGHT” a lot when people are talking, when they expressing their opinion. I just feel like a nice validating word but I realised sometimes I am saying it a lot! Also “ACTUALLY”, but I really don’t know why.

What is your biggest achievement so far?

Hmm…. It’s a good question. Few things that I am proud of, if I have to pick just one thing, it could be getting to a place in my life where I feel happy. It is the most important thing, just feeling independent and happy.

What is on your bucket list?

Seeing Northern Lights, for sure. I want to go to The Pacific Crestrail, in California, it is a long hiking trail. I don’t necessarily want to do the whole thing, but even just a part of it. Also, I would like to have a house, own a home.

What is your guilty pleasure?

It might be watching Netflix. It is not as bad, but not amazing just watching telly. And definitely chocolate, anything sweet.

If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and why?

It would be cool to talk to my ancestors who passed away, or even to talk to people who lived a really long time ago, like thousand years ago to see what they are like. Not one specific person, it could be anyone from that time.

What did you always want to try and never did?

I always wanted to take up ice-skating lessons. When I was a kid, I asked my mom and she said I would need to wake up super early for the lessons, so I never took it. I learnt it myself since, but I still think it would be great to take some lessons.

What do you like to do on your days off?

I like to go to the park with my dog, going out to eat, see people. But there are other things I have to do like chores.
If you could become an expert in something, what would it be?

It would be really good to be in expert of massage, in terms of really understanding on all different levels, all different approaches, different ways of thinking about the body, the science of it, different conditions.

If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?

I would bring probably a tool box with useful tools to build a shelter and get food, maybe magical phone so I can get some help and maybe my husband. He has to be stuck with me.

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?

It would be an American History or Royal History, maybe when women got a right to vote in US.dog.jpg

Best vacation you’ve ever been to?

I went on a backpacking trip in National Park in Texas. It was a really pretty place.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

One kind of fruit in Indonesia, taste is really good, it is called snake fruit. It was very weird, but good.

What is the one thing, you can’t live without?

Probably my husband. :)

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Sometimes our dog, we need to wake up earlier than we want.
